Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

An I bet you dont fart either.(joke)
Anyways, reformed smoker, been clean for 21 months now and haven't had a cigarette since either.
Apart from that, nicotine is a drug. Smokers are addicts. Yes, they smell.
I have never seen these additional breaks smokers get. It's a myth made up by bitter, smoke free, moanathon addicts. If everyone stopped smoking tomorrow, they'd find something else to complain about (methane produced by livestock? Who has the most paperclips? Who's is the mouldy cheese sandwich in the fridge? Whos drank my fresh an low?).
It's part of the bitterness when you work in an office. The culture of jelousy because you have this misconception that someone is getting something you arent.0 -

how canu make such an assumption when you dont even know me
i am a smoker but i might only smoke one cig a day or it may be 100 a day!
I know for a fact that I do not stink because I put such an effort into not smelling as I know how smelly smoke is.
People who do not know me well are surprised that I am a smokerTime is the best teacherShame it kills all the students

I gave up smoking almost 2 years ago and can quite honestly say that smokers smell wether it be 1 or 100 fags that they have day!!!
It does not matter how much you wash your hands or spray yourself the smell does not lift (although you think it does), it lingers in freshly washed clothes, your hair and breath unless you have just brushed your teeth and constantly suck on a mint!
I used to try and hide it from my parents when I was underage and the only reason I never got caught out was because they were both smokers who couldn't smell the smoke on me... It took for my non-smoking gran to announce at the dinner table one sunday that I stank of fags despite me not having one that day and trying my best to smell smoke-free
And personally as an ex-smoker that used to take extra brakes to smoke whilst at work, I do think it should be up to the company to decide wether they want to take on smokers or not- However I do think that employees should be able to smoke during breaks much to my annoyance of the smell...0 -
did u have 'smoker' on your cv?!tomsolomon wrote: »Yes can you believe it.......
I have just spoken to the inerveiwer on the phone, and I was told that "the company does not employ smokers", and that "You can re-send your CV after you have been smoke free for a month".........
That's descriminatory, what are my rights?0 -

some tips for smokers to avoid the 'dreaded' smell
when standing outside smoking stand outside facing away from the wind
ashtrays put baking soda in them and wash out regularly. the baking soda helps to absorb this dreaded 'stink' and also draws some of the smokey odour out of the air
buy a fresh airball - have this on in the room you smoke in or alternatively as I do smoke outside and have the airball inside to avoid smoke coming back in.Time is the best teacherShame it kills all the students

How would you feel tomsolomon if you were working in an office, shop, or factory and you had to cover for a colleague 5 or 10 times a day while they nipped out for a quick pint, then had to work with the stink of ale all day.
Cigarettes are no different.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
