cancelling sky, or getting better price

can you still get a discounted deal from sky if you threaten to cancel ?

i need to reduce my monthly outgoings, just done it with setanta and got half price for 3months.

never really go out to pub etc so sky is my only luxury but at £47 p/m is a lot of money or £564 per year (wow first time i've added that up )
OH likes the movies and i like the sports plus DS likes the kids channels so skys clever pricing means i need the full package.

i'm not in a cable area, so can't go down that route.

you might well be able to get a deal but you should be willing to cancel if they dont give you it.

£500+ a year would rent a lot of films.......

just phoned and got a scottish guy, told him was about to be made redundant and needed to cut the bills.
he instantly give me a £30 discount on my next bill and told me to phone back in 4weeks to reavaluate my package.
tried to push the calls and BB but said no.
    that'll do for now
  • That's good news. Good luck for 4 weeks time.

Or save even more money and go for freview or freesat.

He wouldn't even need to purchase a freesat box as the existing Sky box should pick up all the Freesat channels as they are free to air.

you don't get sky1 or nick jr et al on freview

plus it's built in to the tv anyway
  • I cancelled SKY earlier in the year.

Bought a twin tuner freeview card for my PC. It records what I want, and works a treat. I can even burn things to DVD :D You can't do that with SKY

As far as movies - we just buy a movie occasionally- maybe one every couple of months.

The kids were watching too much telly. They now spend more time actually playing with each other. If they stay at my dads they have a SKY fest as he has the family pack.

Missed it at the start, but now I wouldn't go back, not unless it was half price.
    baldly going on...
  • Is there a list knocking about of what channels you get if you cancel the subscription to Sky?
