Windows Update doesnt work

Hi
I cant use widnows update, as whenevr i go and use it, the same error message pops up. I assumed windows updated automatically, but if it didnt then i havent updated in ages!

It says,"Iexplore has caused an error in MSHTML.DLL Iesplore will now close. If you continue to experience problemstry restarting the pc"

Restarting the pc has no effect.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

    CAUSE
This can be caused by an XML file that uses an XSL file to create either an anchor tag (A) set to change the right frame or element that calls Window.open ("URL", "rightframe").

This only happens if the right frame is currently pointing to a page located on another domain. If the page is on the same domain, it works fine until the page changes to a separate domain.

    RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 from either of the following Microsoft Web sites:

    http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/)
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie)
NOTE: The version of Internet Explorer 5.5 that is included with Windows Millennium Edition (Me) is 5.50.4134.0100. The version of Internet Explorer 5.5 that is available on Microsoft Web sites is version 5.50.41.34.0600.

    STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Internet Explorer version 5.5 for Windows Millennium Edition.

    APPLIES TO
    • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

You could download bigfix and let it add patches etc.

I've no idea how it works - maybe it uses the exact same system as Windows update - so it'd have the same problem
