How long for V5 to arrive?

Bought a car 10 days ago - fully taxed and insured, but haven't received the log book from DVLA yet; I don't know how long they normally take to arrive??
The only difference is that it's an ex-motability car and needs to be 're-registered' or something similar.
Sorry to be vague, but I don't even drive, the car's for my mother.
Many thanks!

Iv got mine in 2days, but also waited 3 weeks! It just depends how bust they are and how busy the post it. This time of year the post will get slower...

You should have the green tear off slip?

They can take up to 6 weeks.

I bought a used car on the 22nd November and the V5 turned up last Saturday (6th December) so it took a fortnight.
  • Standard turnaround time is 2-4 weeks. At moment they are taking approx 2-3 weeks.

Wait the 4 weeks, then ring DVLA if not received.

  • With a car that has had a change of tax class it will takle a bit longer.

How was it fully taxed if it had a Disabled disc?

Got one through yesterday after 3 weeks.
  • I know you have to go to the regional DVLA centre to get the class changed, but you you tax it there and then?
  • You (or your dealer) can go to your local DVLA office and re-tax it on the spot. They will give you a 'normal' tax disc and send the V5 so the class of vehicle can be changed.
  • Thanks for all your help - log book arrived this morning!
