Can anyone help diagnose a problem with my car...

Hi All,
I Have a 2001 Renault Clio. For some reason when going over about 25mph the engine noise gets really loud (like I'm doing about 80mph) The revs aren't unusually high, the noise doesn't change when I press the clutch/change gear. I have been told by my mechanic that the clutch will need doing soon, was going to get it done in Jan but I don't think this is causing the noise. Has anyone got any ideas...?

If it only needs doing 'soon', that's mechanic talk for in the next year maybe ;)

Without more info it's hard to diagnose here, it could be a loose heat shield, tappets, wheel bearing or CV joint, suspension judder...
^^^ My original diagnosis, but without more info it's hard to say...

Does the car still make a noise when your turning corners? Left, Right or both?

Easiest to ask a mechanic, but if you can't don't want to do that, you could make an mp3 recording of the sounds.

And what does it sound like with the car stationary just increase the revs slowly up to 2000

The car sounds fine when stationary. Not sure about the revs thing I will have to check.
