hello i started my hnd in 09/06 my tuition fee was £1200 for year 1 and £1225 for year 2. I have just transferred onto a degree course and have been recently told i will need to pay £3145 for my third year transfer (3rd year entry, uni does not offer top-up). Is this correct as i was under the assumption that i the fees you first pay at the start continue until you finish the course of study.
the uni says pay £3145 and dont care about https://www.direct.gov.uk phone line help who say pay £1255
does anyone know where i can find out the information i need. i tried google searching student help/ student support . All i want is an offical answer to what seems a uncommon situation.

AS you are transferring onto the degree course - it's considered a new course - I did the same thing a few years back but I did the 1st year of my HND and then 2 more years at Uni, so I had to redo all my loan application forms as it was considered a new application.Noli nothis permittere te terere

Hi,
Tuition fees for any degree course are capped at 3145 per year, regardless of course/year. (assumuing you are eu/uk student)0 -
I am a second year Foundation Degree student - our fees will increase in the top-up year, although we do get a 10% discount for being on the Regional University Network (agreement between lots of Northern colleges and Unis). Basically HND and hons degree are two different courses.
Having said that I had a year out in between first and second year, and there was an disagreement between the LEA and the College as to whether I was a continuing or new student. The LEA said the college could only charge what they were willing to fund ... When I enrolled in September I had the wrong (higher) amount on my forms, told the lady at the desk and she wrote the lower amount in by hand. It's a long shot, but worth a try.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Thanks for all your help.
Ill pay the £3145. It was a difficult situation with different people saying different things and at the enrollment being quoted £1255. I got more sense by asking on this forum than i have had with the university and LLA.
Does not feel like you get value for money these days. With future price hikes i feel very sorry for new students.
Thanks again0 -

You've just moved the goalposts!! If you were quoted the lower figure at enrollment and that contributed to your decision to undertake a third year ... did you get anything in writing at enrollment?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
