MOT ran out - can I take it to one of the council centres

Hi,

I'm after some advice.

I read about the council MOT centres, and have one locally. However, my MOT has already run out (car currently off road), which means I can take it to the test centre, but as they don't repair problems there where do I stand on driving it away if it fails - which is likely? Will I need to pre-arrange repairs with another garage or get it towed?

Thanks.
Looking forward to the future.

If it is insured you can drive it to a test centre as long as you have made an appointment with the center.

Do not know about driving it again if it fails but the test center will probably tell you if you ask.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

As I understand it you can drive it to and from the MOT and to and from somewhere for repairs but it must be pre booked (so you have proof that you are traveling to and from the places).

There is no mileage limit on this.

However the car cannot be totaly un road worthy. ie a danger to other road users etc.

As I say this is how i understand it but I can't find a link.

As MX5 said, it can legally go to a prebooked MOT and then either home or to a prebooked place of repair if it fails.

If you take it home, then it can then be moved to a prebooked place of a repair but only for items that it failed the MOT on.
