1st of all my Norton 2005 has run out and I get pop up dialogue boxes all the time asking me to activate! can't afford to right now so wanna uninstall and use AVG or any free ones that is good! Problem is I can't see how to uninstall?
When I try remove/change program for norton it says abnormal program termination
please help and advise whether the AVG is the best freebie.
Thanks

I have no view on AVG.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I have always used AVG and it has worked fine for me. Some others may recommend another free one - Avast I believe, but I haven't got any experience with this.
I would recommend AVG Free, but you must make sure you remove Norton somehow because otherwise there could be obsolete files left behind that will stop AVG working correctly. (PCs don't like 2 Anti-Virus programs running at the same time.)When I try remove/change program for norton it says abnormal program terminationMake sure that the Symantec files are loading on startup
If some Symantec program files do not run when you start Windows, you cannot uninstall Symantec programs. Symantec can reenable the startup files for you.
Check that first - the techinical help area is near the bottom of the page, and there is a link that you can click which will reenable the files.0 -
I also come to the end of my norton 2005, and after reading recomendations on free anti virus. I went for Avast and it works fine, 3 months on I am quite impressed it picks up everything"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
