Gardener's rates

Need to have my garden cleared and a panel in the fence replaced. Had a guy round the other day, haven't got the quote yet but he said it would take 2 guys 2/3rds of a day to do the job. How much do gardeners charge for a day - any ideas - we are in london

A friend of mine pays £16 an hour for two men. They charge for how ever long the job takes for small jobs and quote a price for larger projects.

My gardener (who deserves a Sainthood as my garden is v.big) charges what seems to me pretty reasonable rates considering we're in London. When I first hired him I had to have all the grass cut and the very overgrown bushes/trees cut back and a shed dismantled and taken to the dump. He charged me £90 for that. It took him about 6 hours. He now comes every few weeks to cut the grass/bushes and do any odd-jobs - he charges me £30-40 for about 3 hours work.
