Milestones

Does anyone have milestones to reach on their way to being DF so they can have small sightable goals ?
I have the following
Get each debt down to its next lower £1000
Get my total paid off up to the next £5000
Get my total owed down to its next lower £5000
Pay off my Argos card so i can start to throw extra money at my Beneficial cc
To get over 50% of my LBM debt paid off so its then downhill
And (when i get there - cos i will) be debt free
I'm finding it helps to keep me in check to have these goals when i'm debating on buying something when i shouldnt be

Hiya
Yes I'm the same - every time I knock £1000 off I celebrate as the amount looks so much smaller! Can't wait to reach my 50% point next month! The one I'm really looking forward to is the below £10,000 though - I never thought I would reach that point having been in debt pretty much constantly for the last 10 years.0 -
50% - great stuff
Bet you will feel really good about that
Ill have reached my first £5000 paid off next month so we'll both be celebrating
Maybe we could keep this thread going and all can post as they reach their next goal ?

I live for my milestones...
My next is to get sub £20k
Then to save enough to clear my 0% card and go sub £15k£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

Sounds a good idea to keep me motivated, when I look at how much I have left to pay to become debt free, I feel a bit peed off! So if I have some milestones to aim for it might make me feel better, I'm sick of my debts - and yes I did enjoy spending it - but paying it back seems to take forever. I think my milestones for my Tesco cc debt will be just to get under the next hundred!
I shall be looking back at this thread to see what other people have as milestones, I might just copy their ideas

What a great thread Rammy!
My next one will be at the beginning of January - my debt will be sub £17k!!
When I get paid at the end of December (coincidentally on my Birthday!) I will be trying to reclaim my PPI and unfair CC charges, which I will pay towards my debts - and this will speed up my debt free a little bit..! :T
This forum is great isn't it....I really thought I was all alone in this situation before i started my DMP....but now I know that I'm one of many, many people who have taken control of their lives again!

Yip :T !
My first was to get sub £20k. Now they are:
1. Get below £18k before New Year when all the next big payments come off
2. Get to the next lower £1000 amount asap
3. Get below £15k
4. Clear my 3 credit cards by end June leaving only 1 loan (this one is in my sig)
Good luck with yours x0 -
Hello and welcome to all
