It is a severe breach of data protection and the caller could lose their job. I would contact them, they should be very apologetic as they could be in serious trouble for such a breach. Speaking to your husband would be bad enough but speaking to someone who has nothing to do with you??? Why don't they take out an ad in the national newspaper "Completemess Can't Pay Her Debts".

Let us know what they say.

I know exactly how you feel! Lloyds TSB hounded me at work for weeks, even after asking them not too, and for them to wipe the number from their systems. They would leave messages on the answer machine, which is situated in our staffroom!!! There's only 10 people that work at my place so it was certainly personal! I've run out of excuses.
I'm worried that the calls will start again, now our IVA proposal has been rejected!

i agree its disgusting behaviour. i used to get my friends to answer my phone and they would say its a personal matter from company blah blah they would say abbreviations like ABC

I was hounded like you for weeks by MBNA...then I read a thread on here by Zincoxide.....not sure if someone has the link ?

It enlighted me to the `take no cr*p from these people` attitude & my whole outlook changed!! I know I`m in debt & its all a mess...I`m trying to do something about it & no amount af harrassment can make me feel any worse than I already do!!

...it has`nt made me pay any more off the debt...as you can`t get money when there is none there!!!

So Sad Angel i've got to the point with MBNA now that I either refuse security or if I feel like it and give them the first letter of my mothers maiden name and place of birth (lol i'm awkward aren't I) then i'm equally as rude back. The other day I actually said to the girl "Are you so incompetent that you are unable to read your computer with updates previous members of staff have made. No I haven't come into money, I haven't sold my house and NO a member of family do not feel like making the minimum payment now phone someone else you might actually get some money off. I'm a can't payer not a won't payer" They haven't phoned me for a few days......missing my daily call or two. I'm sure it won't be long until the fun starts again!!!

My letter to Abbey is printed and is being sent recorded delivery with a copy to OFT. Thanks everyone, this site is a godsend!!!

Hope you get a big apology & more Completemess, you should get more and they should get in big trouble with the Information Commissioners Office, the Office of Fair Trading and Trading Standards. it is a serious thing and they should get fined and bad publicity more often for this sort of thing.
