Hope this is in the right place and the right way?!
But I think the cold is getting to me:(
Our 6 yr old ideal boiler has just been condemned by ideal servicer. We have had some quotes and wondered whether those in the know feel they are reasonable?
for supplying like for like boiler (but newer version) Ideal Isar HE 24
£564.56 vat inc supply only
£950 for supply and fit.
We have also been told that we won't get the 2 year warranty on new boiler because we are expected to continue with ideal breakdown insurance.
Quote for same spec Glow worm Flexi com CX (30kw)£1471 fitted inclusive of vat
Baxi duo tech 40 HE £1679 fitted & inclusive of vat
Worcestor CDI Green star (40kw) £1749 fitted & inclusive of vat

Oh not sure what you mean by that. But he did state that it would be a one day job. Will have to check re gas supply. Thanks

A 6 year old boiler condemned? Were you given a list of defects? (apart from it being an Ideal)
As for the bull about not getting a warranty :mad:
You are being conned.IMO.
You need more quotes from honest RGIs.
My personal preference is Vaillant or Viessmann. (stainless steel heat exchangers)

I have to agree about the warranty! The last 3 quotes were from a RGI and not ideal. We have had so many repairs done to the condemned boiler since it was installed - at least 2 a year, with the last two call outs in the last 4 weeks, all within the breakdown insurance. However a part of me does feel that they may feel that it is more efficient for them to condemn as replacement is not in policy! I really dont want an ideal boiler again.
Do you think that the last 3 quotes seem reasonable?

Hi...do the quotes include a powerflush, Boiler Buddy/Magnaclean, and notification to Building Control via CORGI? If yes, then would be very cheap for the southeast. I'd take more than a day to fit a combi and would upsize the gas supply as a high kW combi will require a high gas rate. I'd recommend a Vaillant EcoTech plus 837 if you're going with a large combi. If you must have one off the list, go with the WB. You don't want to void the warranty so ensure the RGI follows manufacturer's installation requirements...you can find these on the manufacturer's website.
