RCB... i would get on to the Ombudsman now, as they are at fault and not you, and you have a child so they cannot make you homeless..due to their mess up..and have you spoken to someone high up in the insurance company?

Yep - OH has had a real go at them on the phone but they are refusing to budge.
Every time he asked her a direct question about all the mistakes they have made over the last 18 months with our claim, she would just go quiet - no answer!! Which proves they know they have been inept - yet they're still happy to pull the rent money from under us.

They could argue that they aren't making us homeless, just not paying our rent anymore.
Yet we have a shell of a house that's still un-inhabitable that we still have to pay a mortgage on & then we supposedly have to find rent money on top of that aswell. Straight after Christmas too!!

I'm just worried that the Ombudsman will just not have time to sort anything out for us because they will be closed over Christmas & the New Year, and our rent runs out in a month!!

  • RCB, I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. I understand what you say about the ombudsman taking time. Maybe your MP or his assistant can fire off a letter on your behalf?

Wish there was something I could do, this must be so frightening for you especially at this time of year.
But there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!

I think maybe you should contact them today and explain to them, especially with christmas closure everywhere...I used them once for the gas people, and they were brilliant at sorting it out for me...i know this is alot more major, so i would phone them now and stress everything to them, and especially as you have a child, that needs somewhere habitable to live and you surely cannot be responsible for both rent and morgage and had the insurance company done their job, you would not be in this situation
    :D
  • Thanks everyone - I appreciate your support.

Anyhoo - enough of being miserable - it really doesn't become me (panda eyes are soooooo not a good look on me!!!)

    HAPPY ROCKIN' CHRISTMAS EVERYONE...
