If you dont get what you feel is a satisfactory answer/punishment and need advice about this matter I would be happy to advise as a 'school governor' myself and know how they 'system' works.

I hope the boy's father has the dignity to approach you with an apology, a real apology. And the promise that his son will never do that again. That would be the decent thing to do. But the school, my god........a duty of care, remind them!!!!!
  • Wokkies, not sure where I am going with this but wanted to share it with you. My OH has a little boy (he of the birthday party age 6 yesterday). Just before his 2nd birthday his mum died. She knew she was going to since he was tiny and doted on him. He couldn't talk except in his own special way, physically wasn't great as everything done for him, and didn't know what a rule was. Then his dad was grieving and whatever he wanted was once again no trouble.

This little boy bit like a wild thing until about a year ago. Not being his mum I found it embarrassing and frustrating, but to add to it all the school, health visitors etc always have taken the line of "poor xxx", as if it is his name. If another kid retaliates we always hear the teachers say they are dishing out a punishment, but if DSS does it there is no punishment, just "poor xxx". It has been hard for us to handle and everyone apart from the victims seems to want to excuse it instead of deal with it.

With the attacker of your lil woks not having his mum around you have to wonder what is going on in his life. Maybe his dad finds him difficult too and there is no help for him. Just a thought, and don't know the people concerned, but you might find there is more to this than meets the eye so please don't challenge the father until you have exhausted all possibilities as it will only be teaching the LO's that it is ok to react strongly.

OTOH, if my LO came home from school hurt my immediate reaction would be the same as yours, so like I said I don't know where this is going, just food for thought.

Hope Lil Woks relaxing now and recovering from his bad day x
