buying a bed - confused!

Options
I'm trying to buy a bed, and have been attempting to compare prices (Bensons has a 'double the difference' price promise). I'm finding it impossible! It seems as if each retailer will buy the same bed under a different name, making it impossible to compare. I think this is why ALL of the websites I've looked at guarantee the lowest price!

Does anyone know if bed manufacturers have lists of the different names they use for a particular model? Or can anyone recommend somewhere I can buy a reasonably priced bed? Would appreciate any advice

  • we were in the same predicament as you. it is very confusing and we spent ages testing beds and comparing prices between shops. we eventually settled last weekend on a myers bed from the co-op. very good price. we went to look at the bed instore and then bought it for cheaper from them online! https://www.coopbedshop.co.uk. depends on what you are looking for but their prices are very competitive and they have a good selection as well. hope this helps

I'd sleep on it before making any decisions.

Had same problem about 18 months ago. If you phone the manufacturers up and sweet talk them, often they will tell you that the xyz solb by Company 1 is the same as the ABC sold by Company 2 or the PQR Sold by company 3. However, as you say, getting a company to admit that and getting the price promisew honoured would not be very easy, IMO.

In the end I tracked down the bed that I wanted under its various names and found it on the web. And yes, the Coopbedshop was £££ cheaper than anyone else and they delivered quickly too!

Most of these bed 'specialist' stores, seem to be amongst the worst, for pretend discounts & offers.

HJave you tried IKEA? We wern't impressed by their range, a couple of years back - but now they've re-worked the stocks & have a good selection. Helpfull booklets & looooooooooong guarantees, too.

& don't forget to get one of their store cards, when you want to make the purchase for 5% off on your first purchase - free drinks on each visit, too!!

In my opinion Ikea are very good. Plenty of info etc & good testing facilities. No special-funny prices but very good everyday prices.
We're over 20 years with them on beds & I've never regretted it.
    Nice to save.
  • I have a Tempur bed bought from Furniture Village (cheaper than direct). It is the 20cm thinkness not the 15cm. It was VERY expensive but I got 3 years interest free - it is fantastic. I sleep so deeply and soundly and just love love love it......the cost is still on heck of a shock but I figure it would last me a long time.

I am a "larger lady" and my old bed with springs died after 7 years - buying cheaper in the long run didnt work.

Can recommend them if you can manage to afford on - obviously in the sale only :-))
  • Don't buy from the Bed Shed.Their aftersales service is appalling

I've lost count how many years we've had our Millbrook bed. At least 10 years I should imagine.

What I do know is it's 1000 spring pocket sprung and is just as comfortable as the day we got it and looks like new.

Always get a pocket sprung ahead of a standard sprung bed.
