New washing machine connecting

Just plugged in our new washing machine, making sure the factory packing is removed. The washing machine only needs mains cold water where as I have both hot and cold water feed pipes (small taps). As the hot water feed is no longer required and the tap is off, does the end where the hose connects to the feed and to washing machine need plugging just in case as leak?
Washing machine states it doesnt need hot water, and is a high energy rating AAB.
Thanks in advance

I have a machine with the same set-up. The hot water connection is fitted just for appearances sake, no harm in doing it IMO.0

I wonder if there was a cap to put on the end where normally the hose would connect to just in case, I hate to have a leak and boy was it a tight fit putting washing machine in. Cheers0

if the tap is turned off there is no reason it should leak but if you do attach the hose to hot water and machine, then make sure you do turn the tap on again just in caseProud to be me, proud to be who I am!!0

Am I right in thnking that you mean if the leak is from the washing machine without the hot water pipe attached. If so then don't worry, there will be a solanoid (type of electronic tap) that would close off the inlet, and normally the hot and cold feeds have seperate channels into the soap tray, so for the water to leak from the hot fill it would have to fill the soap tray and then flow back, normally you would have a big puddle on the floor long before this would happen as the soap trays are not a very good fit :rotfl:0
