Hello,
I was wondering on how you set up a printer wirelessly. Can I piggy back it through my wireless router?
I have 2 printers (I only want one set up and I will give the other printer to my son) Ones an Epson Stylus DX4050 and the other a KODAK Easy Share 5100
Both are all in one (Print, copy & scan) but ideally I would like the printer bit working.
We do have a tower PC but the printer is for the Laptop (Makes life much more easier as all our stock is upstairs and the computer is downstairs!!! Lazy I know!)
Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers

You have 2 options - Either buy a wireless print server or just share the printer.
Check-out ebay, misco or ebuyer if you are interested in the wireless print server. However, I believe that you will lose your copy/scan etc facility if you use the wireless print server.
Alternatively, You could just share the printer. This would mean that you would connect your printer to the pc and then share the printer. You would then connect to your printer via the pc.
I take it that you want to use the printer that would be downstairs?“Hardware: The parts of a computer system that can be thrown out of the nearest window!”0 -
He there, I have been using a Linksys wireless print server for a while now. The one I have allows full use of the multifunction printer I have (Canon MP500) as you can reserve the printer to a pc on the network to allow for scanning, etc.
Amazon have them: see http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linksys-WPSM54G-Wireless-G-PrintServer-Multifunction/dp/B001GQTJFE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1228814756&sr=8-1

Anyone able to do a quick talk through to achieve this? Both printers are downstairs with the main computer.0 -
Plug into your main computer, right click Printer -> Sharing (on Windows XP)0
-
INstall the printer on the pc downstairs. In printers and faxes right click on the printer and choose Sharing. Click the radio button that says Share this printer and give it a meaningful name.
On the laptop the easiest way is to do is go to the run prompt and type \\the ip address of your pc. You will then be able to see the printers on the pc. Right click on the one you want and choose connect. You will then be able to print. You will need the PC to be on when you want to print and you will also need it to be on a static IP address unless you use the hostname and DNS.
