Virgin Anti spyware

Just been advised to upload Virgins PCGuard said it was free but anti spyware isn't included and costs £3 per month. What should I do? Thanks for any advice.

I believe you get the extra abilities if you have the L or XL service. However, I would recommend not bothering paying for it and just use spybot and/or adaware which are both free for personal use.

Agree with the above, some good free antispyware products used on this board are malwarebytes, superantispyware, spyboy search and destroy. Use your favourite search engine to find them.

Also a good idea to use ccleaner to make sure that none of these programs run at start up, should you choose to install them... that way your computer isn't unnecessarily slowed down, and the programs run only when you click on them, on demand.

I wouldn't wish Virgin's PC guard antivirus on anyone... there are better free antivirus programs out there: Avast or Avira get good feedback from most, or the king of the castle seems to be ESET Nod32, although this isn't free.

Remember you can only have one antivirus installed at any one time, but you can have as many of the above antispyware progs as you want.

I agree with vyseboy - I've used Avast for a while on 5 of the pc's in my house which seems to be working a treat. For spyware I use both adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy and run a scan every couple of months along with a Hijack This scan if I have problems. This is normally enough and it's all free
