Do you have any recipes for stirfries? I've seen chinese vegetable mixes in the supermarket (I think they're Findus) but don't know how healthy these are. I know supermarkets also do fresh stirfry mixes containing beansproats, etc, but again, don't know how good these are, or whether I should just make my own. If I make my own, what vegetables are good to put in?

You can't actually taste 'onion' but the flavour is there - if that makes sense!
I never buy the stir fry mixes because they work out too expensive. As a rough idea I use (not always all at the same time) onions, carrots, celery, peppers, baby sweetcorn or tinned sweetcorn, thin beans or petit pois or even a handful of frozen peas, mushrooms, courgettes, tomatoes, beansprouts, noodles - any combination of these. A good mix of colour is essential for taste
Fry them up in a wok with some hot oil and strips of leftover meat (or fresh if you prefer), splash on some light soy sauce or add a sachet of ready-made sauce. All done in around 15 minutes."You can't buy love, but you can pay heavily for it." Henry Youngman0 -

Hi nic
I don't like the texture of onions either, but enjoy the flavour of them... and used to spend a good 10-15 minutes picking them out of meals. Now I blend them in my mini chopper and add them to practically everything. I found a lot of foods were really bland without onion and things are a lot more tasty now.
I got a stick blender with an extra attachment like this I use it all the time now. While I'm blending the onions I put my garlic in too (if recipe calls for it) as it saves on washing up and faffing aboutJust run, run and keep on running!0 -

I know you mean. After about 15mins, I get fed up of it and then can't be bothered to eat my meal.Jay-Jay wrote:I got a stick blender with an extra attachment like this I use it all the time now. I think I've got something similar from a Pampered Chef party that I went too. I can't remembered exactly what it is, as I haven't moved into my new place yet, so am everything is packed away so that I don't use it and then everything's new when I move in. I'm just going to look online and see if I can find out what it is. I'll be back......0 -

This is what I've got. I was wrong, it's not very similar to what you've got at all. It's just a chopper.
Definitely worth buying myself a blender me thinks.0 -

It 'might' chop things fine enough for you to get away with it
I use my stick blender for making yorkshire pud batter and used it for both my babies when they were being weaned. I also make soup and blend it (don't like lumpy soup). I've had it for 6 years and I've used it for all kinds of things, it doesn't take up much room either.
Just run, run and keep on running!0
