Wallpaper off, glue remains -help please

Options
Ok so I've steamed the wallpaper off and I want to paint the walls this time around but there seems to be a lot of residule glue still on the walls. What would be the best thing to wash this off easily without loads of scrubbing (I have a poorly back) Is soap and hot water the best? Thank you for any replies I get.

This website on the uses of vinegar might help:

Look under miscellaneous uses at the bottom of the page.

Sugar soap and a little elbow grease.

I had this problem last year and can vouch for sugar soap AND detergent! I ended up using both. Not good news for your back, but it took ages. If you don't change your cleaning solution v. regularly you just end up re-arranging the paste on the walls!
Also try to wear rubber gloves as sugar soap, abrasives etc. can make your hands sore.
But the final test has to be whether the wall still feels tacky to the touch, both when dry and when wet again.

I have recently had a similar problem when removing my wallpaper and unfortunately the sugar soap did not work well at all. I ended up using a wet cloth and a paint scraper to get the worst off. It was a lot of hard work and took a long time with no obvious short cuts. Having done at least half my house I would get someone else to do this job if you have back trouble :-)
