  • It IS WHSmiths fault that the money has been taken from her account and not repaid. Why can't they refund and charge later when they dispatch. Or give you the option of cancelling and getting your money back. Or send an apologetic email even. Or reply to emails (in my case I have sent 5 emails without reply over the last 2 weeks). Or answer the phone.

A bit more understanding and patience? Not likely!

Please don't get me wrong, I am not supporting the big retail companies who constantly provide a crap service or trying to annoy people on here.

But after reading some of the vents on this forum in my opinion I think a lot of people who order online need to start taking responsibility for themselves.

The administration of Woolworth's was confirmed on the 26th November and it was explained at the time about the Entertainment UK division being one of the major suppliers to over 1/3 of the retail industry for CD's, DVD's, Games, Books, etc. I would have thought common sense would tell you that these items would be harder to buy, especially as it was announced that many of the retailers involved had decided to ensure that any stock went to shop customers first before online customers.

A little research about the company you are ordering from would go a long way. And yes so would a bit more understanding about the current trading problems.

Although I do agree with the points you have raised in your posts about the service offered and do appreciate the hassle people are having.

Many other retailers seem to be able to offer an online ordering system where you are able to cancel or modify the order it as long as the items have not been despatched, as well as not invoicing you and removing the money from your account until the items are actually despatched to the customer.

I also agree that a serious improvement to their customer service is needed, as you say an apologetic email with expected delivery date would definitely help people. Although the person who's post I commented on did get that type of email, although I don't know the circumstances and they might have been waiting for 2 month for all I know.

Have had an email from them today to say my order has been cancelled due to the supplier going unto administration and the money will be paid back into my bank. At least it gives me time to try and find the dvd somewhere else.
