well for some reason working tax credits put £262 into my bank, i dont know why, am not asking (before xmas). im not entitled to this money but im scared.
i have spent it. before this money was in the bank my kids (18 and 19 at home) were getting absolutly nothing for christmas, me and hubby getting £164 every 2 weeks benefit so you can imagine how skint we are. but im sorry i took the money and spent it on my children. they will have a few presents to open .
p.s. i bought a peice of pork for xmas dinner weeks ago i cant throw it away, we need it. i want too cry.
this is just one problem. i think ive had enough, i dont know how much more i can take.

Come now sweetheart calm down. It's not a problems just yet, is it? They're not banging on your door at th moment are they?
OK you've spent it, but weather you're entilted to it or not, by the time they realise there's a problem, if there is a problem, they will give you a chance to pay it back or will cop the blame themselves and overlook it. If they don't overlook it, they will give you a chance to pay it back how it suits you. They won't make you pay it back all at once if you explain you can't. 5 pounds a week maybe, but they won't put you into hardship because of it.
Enjoy the opportunity you have been given for your kids, and cross any other bridges when you come to them. You're stressing out about something that hasn't even happened yet.

Lets look at this situation from another angle.
Lets say you were owed £262 from benefits. If you didn't get it, what would you do?
Of course, the answer is that you would expect it and demand it! You would get lots of advice here on who to call and what to say.
And also, you expect it in a lump sum, whats £5 a week!
Fortunatly you do not have a big pot of money like the social does, so you will not be expected to pay it back in one lump sum. But do yourself a favour, ring up and confess. You will sleep better.
