Caller ID on PC

Can anyone help a numpty,
we are a 2 car taxi running from home, we have a business line from BT right next to my pc. at the moment we have an amstrad emailer , it has a large screen display, 200 number memory and answermachine. the phone is spot on, 2 problems we have a call everyday to a premium number cost involved and it's also the 3rd phone over the years and the backlight will go soon as per the others. What i would like to do is split the phone line, 1 to a regular phone for the calls but also to have the phone book stored into the pc and enable caller id. any suggestions please.

There's lots of freeware/shareware utilities available for both number dialling and software-based answering machines. The only extra hardware you would need in the PC is a fax modem, and they are cheap these days.
Just Google for "dialer software" or "answering machine software" and you'll find loads like this:
