What is a Barclaycard CPU link?

I've had one come up on my credit report today - I have applied for a couple of credit cards in the last few days - MBNA and Morgan Stanley - is it something to do with these? I do have a Barclaycard, which I only spend a little on now and again, so maybe it is something to do with a transaction on that??

I think your existing card companies check your credit record from time to time to make sure you aren't taking on too much borrowing elsewhere.

I don't think it registers as a formal search though.

I think MBNA and others have been contacting customers with big debts elsewhere and reducing their credit limit or asking them to repay their balance.
