Sat Nav but no Cigarette Lighter?

Hi All, I'm wanting to ask for a Sat Nav for Christmas but my car (1997 Corsa Breeze) doesn't have a cigarette lighter fitted which I've been told is needed to power them. I know they can be charged via the mains but obviously the battery would run out and eventually die on extra-long journeys. So 2 quick questions; how long would one expect the battery to last from fully-charged to empty if it wasn't plugged in, and 2, is there any other way of getting around the fact I have no cig lighter?
Thanks in Advance

You can buy them from Halfords (and such places) for a few quid but you'll have to get it wired in by someone......0

You typically get around 2hrs out of a Satnav on its own battery.
Does your car not have an "accessories" socket? They're a cig lighter socket without the lighter bit in.0 -
It has nothing - the mechanic I took with me when I first went to view and buy it noticed it didn't have one for some reason, 2 hours doesn't seem that long so I'll see if he can wire it up for me, probably worth it in the long run. Thanks a lot :-)0

anyone in the family thats good at diy should be able to sort you one out fairly easily
i wouldnt mind betting the wiring is already in place behind the dash, maybe try asking on a vauxhall forum if the wires are there for it0 -
lots of easy ways to wire it in
if your only using it for something small my favourite places to start looking would be the glove box light or radio feed0
