new to broadband wifi router..will this be okay

ive ordered broadband at last lol

our main phone socket is in the hallway and there no elec socket anywhere near it:mad: we have an extension running into the kitchen thats kinda near a elec socket

will plugging the router into an extension and not the main socket cause me problems?

    As per the above post it should be OK but if you are want to get the best out of your connection there are some things you can do to improve the performance of your connection.

    You 'might' get reduced performance, if you plug the router into an extension, depending on a number of factors. Alot will come down to your unique circumstances / wiring etc.

    For example, i had my router plugged into a approx 10m phone extension that was upstairs and the connection speed was around 2-3Mbps. Plugging directly into the BT master socket and the connection speed rose to 6.5Mbps.

    Technically it should work ok, but if performance is poor, it might be worth experimenting.

    depends on what you want to do / what you can live with.

    If it was me, i would install the router as close to the master socket as possible, and then run networking cable from there, rather than phone extensions.
