Hi all,
Planning on a trip to France on the summer - live up north so will arrive late at the Chunnel and want a cheap hotel near the Folkstone end so we can get an early start.
Any suggestions appreciated (2 Ad, 2 Ch, family room ok)
Thanks,

Not sure if I can post telephone numbers so I'll just give you some names to start with.
Clifton Hotel (part of the Best Western chain)
Salisbury Hotel
Quality Hotel Burlington
Banque hotel
Sandgate Hotel
All in or around Folkestone. Not sure if you'll get a family room though.
I've got their numbers if you want to PM me.
Cheers. All opinions are my own and in no way contain official advice or guidelines.0 -
There's a Travelodge in Ashford, 20 minutes away. It's on your way, family rooms and hopefully will have some saver deals.0

There are some Travel Inn's and Travel Lodge's in Ashford... They're pretty cheap and the ones I can think of are near restaurant type places and there's also one by the cinema! It takes about 10 minutes down the M20 to get to Cheriton from Ashford... (I used to do that trip every day for work when I lived in Ashford!)0

I said 10 minutes, maybe I drive to fast... :rotfl:0 -
We always stop at a Travel Inn at Ashford North or the one in Folkestone.0

It would be far cheaper for you to do the crossing when you arrive and stay overnight in France, there are many hotels in the vicinity of the tunnel over there. If you want some sites or recommendations please let me know. Also you can book online and cancel at any time unlike travelodge who on their saver rates do not refund any moneyI haven't got one!0

Hi the Travelodge in Ashford is probably your best bet! Its well placed next to junction 9 of the M20 only about 20 mins drive max to the Eurotunnel Terminal. You might be bale to get £26 rooms. Alternatively there is a Travel Inn in Folkestone just of Junction 13 and one in Ashford just of Junction 10 but they're about 50 quid a night!0

I'd back up the stay in France idea - the crossing might be cheaper evening than morning. There are several of the Accor hotels - Mercure, Etap, etc, within a mile of the terminal. Etap charge about €40 (+ breakfasts) for a room with a double bed and bunk bed across the top - if you're in cheap mode, book one room and take some bedding in (we had 4 adults in one once - only one left ! )0

is the one I always use. Very easy to find and at 42 Euros for a family room it's very reasonable. Breakfast is available at approx 4 euros per person for as much as you can eat (boiled eggs, bread, toast, cornflakes, tea, coffee, orange juice etc) You can cancel the room at any time up to about 3pm on the day of stay with no charge, if you arrive late you can get in with your reservation number and it has uk tv channels.
They guy there is very friendly, there is a Macdonalds opposite
There are others but this is far easier to find although one has just been built next to the terminal but I fear this would be far more expensive. I will research and get back to you
The bunk bed that redux talks about is only a single and therefore I think a family room would be more suitableI haven't got one!0
