Hi all...had a busy day today in that had loads of running around to do all in completely opposite directions...and the traffic was a nightmare.
Have been to the hospital and not much use really..they basically did tests and showed me a spine and explained what had happened to mine and that it will be a long time before it's better.Basically my pelvis is out of line due to one leg being shorter than the other and it'sput pressure on my discs etc...as it took a long time to get like that it'll take a long time to heal but nothing they can do for me.
They've offered a pain management clinic but I don't see much point so I may cancel that.

    Hi Taxi,

Commiserations over the back pain. When I was a child I fell over and wrenched my hip. Thought very little of it then but 30 odd years later I was getting up in the morning doubled up in pain and thinking I would be having to have a hip replacement or something. My x-ray showed that my pelvis was canted and as a result my spine had twisted (until the knobbles that are supposed to run down your spine were almost at right-angles to where they should have been).

The chiropractor set to work on my back and after 3 years it was more or less straight. It still tries to go out of line but one or two visits a year puts everything back into line - and I do lots of lifting as I have a farm/smallholding.

Things that I've found help have been anatomic inserts for my shoes as the twist meant that my arches tried to drop. In fact once I had my spine straightened, the second really noticeable thing was that I stopped twisting my ankles, something I could do almost while standing still and I stopped wearing down the inside edges off my shoe heels, they used to go all the way through in less than 6 weeks.

I always use an orthopaedic mattress but treated myself to a memory foam topper and that really allows me to have a good nights sleep and my back to relax straight. Apart from that I've found that I have to have upright seat backs so that I'm not tempted to slouch which lets the muscles relax back into the old ways where they are pulling the spine out of true again.

Sorry it's such a long ramble but I hope something in the above may help, chronic backache is hell. - oh that reminds me, I had to drive for 9 hours the other day and my hip started to play up and I found the best way to relieve the pain was to put a small book under the bad hip and push that side back in line as the car seat was allowing that hip to drop.

Thanks DND..that was very helpful. The insoles are really good and are helping with walking.
I too have an orthopaedic mattress but I wake up in agony sometimes and am seriously contemplating buying a memeory foam mattress to see if that helps.
The idea of the book underneath the hip is a good one as well..will have to try that as the longer I drive the more it hurts!!!

    So thanks for those tips.
Went to work today and finished about 12.30 as was getting tired and achey..had an ok morning though.DH had a good night last night on the taxi so all is well there.Aart from that nothing to report.Hope you're all having a good day.

Hi all...gosh what a cold day today...I had to de-ice the car today and it had only been sat a couple of hours.
Nipped to PO this morning to deposit our takings as hate to have all that lying about the house.Today has been a bit quieter but still ok.
Really need to find a hairdresser open so that I can get my hair done before my holidays.
Nothing else to report as it's just all work at the minute and washing etc nothing exciting..lol
