Amy - I have no clue on that area, but I just did a rightmove search for Islington 2 bed flats max £1500 pcm and the first 9 results have all been reduced in price - so I would say its dropping - try negoiating if you want to pay at bit less and see what the agents say! :D

Oh and I second the propetybee recommendation - its great :D

I'm looking in Islington and Clerkenwell...I'm looking for 2 bed flats (or 1 bed with study room) near the tube, and it's looking like the cheapest I can go is about £320 per week - £350 for something nice. Does this sound about right?

Oooh! My neck of the woods - we live in Bloomsbury, WC1 (close to Clerkenwell).

I'd look just a touch further afield than you are, for example, tube links from Holborn / Bloomsbury are pretty good, and the area's a lovely one to live in.

    1. Princeton Street 1 bed, £260 a week. I know this road - a quiet one between High Holborn and Theobalds Road. Really close to Holborn tube (Piccadilly and Central lines) can't be more than 4 mins away. Lots of shops, restaurants etc nearby. Minimal details on the flat, but looks OK from the pics.

    2. At the more expensive end, this 2 bed or 1 bed + study flat is £330 a week, incld. shared courtyard outside. Nice area, too, near the Brusnwick Centre:

Thats way too expensive, you can get a lot cheaper in more expensive Fulham and i have no doubt you can get better in the area you want.

Just have a look at rightmove and use your property bee tool ( Add on Firefox only http://www.property-bee.com/)

Far cheaper properties than you stated.

I am living in london and been looking to rent my own house out and as far as im aware rental rates are actualy going up in london because people cant afford to buy there own house.

There's a 2-bed 2-bath flat in a posh block near me - the second bedroom is small but there's an on-site pool and things. Two years ago a similar flat was on for £300 a week. Now this flat came on two months ago at £1300 a month. Then dropped to £1200. Then £1100. Now £1000. The joke is it still says "view early to avoid disappointment" in the first paragraph of the agent's blurb!
Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!
