Off to buy one tommorow and imagine they will all cost different amounts to run however to give me an idea if you have one how much does it cost to run - and how long do you run it for?

What you also have to bear in mind is the possible cost for damage done if you do not use one when needed.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Absolutely. To be fair in my situation if i dont use one it will go bad - however im also on an energy cutting routine at present so just seeing how much this will hit me!
  • I have my one on when I am cooking and my windows steam up with condensation. With the dehumidifier on it does not happen. Also when I have wet washing in the house I put it on and the washing dries quicker and the windows stay clear. Best thing I ever bought costing about 2p per hour.
Before I had one I had black mould on my living room wall that I had to use neat bleach to remove, now its fine!

Not sure what make you have in mind, but if its an Ebac look at their site as they usually have some offers when buying direct from them, the makers.

I have had two Ebac's and can recommend them.
  • Im thinking of this one:

Seems to have good reviews everywhere - heard the Ebac's are noisy?

Never had problems with noise. It stands on the landing upstairs, ouside our bedroom left on automatic from around November to March and eliminates condensation (no double glazing) throughout the four bedroomed house.

    Hi,

I bought EBAC 2650e considering humidity problem at home from argos and works really nice...air seem much fresher and clean. Also, for cost of running one need to cosnider watt. mine is 300 watt around. so calculation for cost of running as under

    300 X 8(hours you run) X 30 (days of month)

    =72000

To convert above figure in to KWH, need to devide by 1000 that will give me 72KWH.

To run my dehumidifier for a month, 8 hours a day will cost me 72 KWH X 7pence/KWH unit electricity charge = £5.04

A builder friend has told me not to run the de-humidifier for an extended time in the toilet/bathroom without first putting in the plugs and close sealing the pan. Also to remove towels/flannel/ water containers.
