It sounds like it's a combination of comfort behaviour and resource gaurding. It's increased because of the disruption in her normal routine.
Personally I wouldn't discourage it, unless you can find something else to replace it with, or her stress levels may mean she seeks other solutions.
Offering a treat or a toy would result in her believing she is being rewarded for it and actually encourage the behaviour.Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Not if you give the reward for the dog leaving the blanket and not growling..0
