    It sounds like it's a combination of comfort behaviour and resource gaurding. It's increased because of the disruption in her normal routine.

    Personally I wouldn't discourage it, unless you can find something else to replace it with, or her stress levels may mean she seeks other solutions.

    Offering a treat or a toy would result in her believing she is being rewarded for it and actually encourage the behaviour.
    Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • Not if you give the reward for the dog leaving the blanket and not growling..
