"This time next year, Rodney" Hypno's latest instalment

Hey guys and gals!
If only we all knew Hypno then Hedge funds wouldn't have a clue and we would be Billionaires!
Right on to this Post-Grad Course. There's two sides of it that can actually HELP and not hinder my DFW thingy...
I can get a Career Development loan from Barclays paying the £4500 fees for the course over two years part time in the evenings (starting next week, if they let me on) now with that loan, I can ask for an extension to it, pay off at least my overdraft and have that there. I don't gain interest on it or need to start paying it off until one month after my course finishes. :j
This then gives me time to actually kick back, do my course, work (next paragraph will explain that) and then hopefully be able to use my abundant cradit balance in a hihg interest savings account to pay off a huge whack off that loan balance and then proceed to pay the rest off each month.
Work wise: This has been a write off since February 2008. I am temping and earning an ok amount of money but to make that step up and go permanent or the next step up in HR, I actually need this qualification. Worse comes to the worse, I lose this HR job and I become an inventory clerk working around London spying on flats before/after tennants move in/out. What I can do then is potentially go full time as a student in September if I don't accepted now and I will have more of a cash cushion but still have to work part time in that last option job to make ends meet (earnings working 'part time' as you're paid on number of jobs completed) go from £850 a month to £1900 with a larger tax free side because I'm a student.
I can see the plus side of starting September, I really do but on the same side, I need to feel I'm in control of my life again and by starting my course in a recession, I'll be better placed in 2010 to get that elusive job!
Does that make sense in a way?! Sorry for the ranting but I thought I'd share my thought process! :rotfl::beer: Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!
How do you amass £70k in a year?! :eek:0 -
I've just started Kate Mosse's Labryinth ( started it yesterday during our 21 hour power cut) I am really enjoying it. What is her latest one called?
DTxx
Just heard we are getting £50 compensation for the power cut because it was over 18 hours. Bring on the next one is all I can say. Not that I was saying that yesterday but £50 is not to be sniffed at.0 -
Evening - no idea what Kate Mosses lastest is called but have read Labryinth.
We could start a book club thread. I've just finished Elizabeth Georges' "In pursuit of the proper sinner". ACtually I read loads and have a record of most books I've read since Jan 2000 - started as a bet with a friend in Canada as to who could read the whole of Charles Dickens the quickest!!! Followed by some Russian bloke, Jane Austen etc etc. In total about 2000 books miniumum.!!
Anyway I digress. Hope everyone has had a good day - mines ben okish!!!0 -
the one I am reading is called "Sepulchre" - I have read labyrinthe and quite enjoyed it, and I read another one that was similar, which was good too - but I am struggling a bit more with this latest one....perhaps because I am tired.
Walshy, you seem to have given things a lot of thought, so I would say let fate take it's part now - if you get on the course this term then run with it, if you don't then save up until September and go full time.
