Well I'm shopping for two so it's easier to buy small and to resist the temptation of buying the meats that are 2 for £5 when actually you only need one and it's only offering you a small saving.
So the normal stuff, couple of burgers, beef, mince meat, whole wheat pasta (great for wheat intolerance!) that kind stuff.
Then buy whatever fish and veg is on offer! Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!
How do you amass £70k in a year?! :eek:0 -
Still very good going thoI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
It is bloomin freezing here - the ice never melted from this morning and although we only had a few flakes of snow during the day, it feels positively arctic......although our Norwegian who came home yesterday from -20 doesn't know what all the fuss is about
Three dooyoo reviews done today - I am now up to about £45 so getting close to cashout at £50 which is another lovely box coloured in - I may even attempt to get to another £50 by the end of January..........
Walshy, that is a really good shopping delivery - I am trying to make my cupboards and the freezer last me for as long as possible before I do a major shop again, because I spent my shopping budget on new trainers  Hopefully we will only need a few bits and pieces before payday - (18 more days......not that I'm counting!!).
In a bizarre way, I quite like January - the fact that we are always even more skint than usual because of Christmas etc makes me re-focus on what we CAN do to make things last etc, and sets us up quite well for the rest of the year!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I know what you mean about liking January....I always think it's as bad as it gets so you have to re-focus. This was the first January that we'd not actually overspent but our poor cat has had to go to the vet so all the money I would have spent on food has now gone on vets bills. The good news is that we will get it back from the insurance...the bad news is the vets not even putting the bill in to the insurance company until after the cats operation next Tuesday! We have to pay upfront....wonder if I dare risk putting it on the CC or if we should live on the freezer / fridge and store cupboard. I bet you're glad to have your lodger back...have you always had good ones? xx0

Mudbath - do you have one less box now.....?
All our lodgers have been excellent - one was more difficult simply because he had ZERO personality......nerdy was not the word!! But he was little trouble really......however, we won't be popping over to visit.
All the others have been fantastic, and we still keep in touch (hence the parcels of chocolate from time to time!!)Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Yes, one less!!!
I'd definitely like a chocolate posting lodger!!! Mind you, they're lucky to have a good landlady in you. Do you think you'd continue to rent a room out once you're debt free? What's your debt free date at the moment do you think? xx0 -
We would like to have our house back to ourselves, but the money is very helpful for debtbusting, and ski related costs. Of course, we have been lucky so far with our students, but that might mean we are due a difficult one!
We have done this for 5 years now, so I wouldn't mind a year off next year.....but we will probably have another student.
Debt free date currently March next year.............:DSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Actually, you've just made me check one of my accounts and the child allowance is in. I've earmarked £50 of that for the CC so that's another box coloured in. No food for the children to eat but I'm still able to colour a square in!!! xx0
