What would happen if I took a PS2 through airport security?

Not in my hand luggage. ;) But if I packed one in my case, plus some PS2 games would they be damaged or affected by the scanning equipment at the airport? I want to take it for some relatives who live abroad.

Much more likely to be damaged by heavy handed / pushed for time baggage handlers.

Make sure it's well wrapped up in soft clothes or maybe some bubble wrap.

The x-ray scanners won't harm it.

  • Fab, thank you! :)

Last time, I managed to get four very well wrapped dinner plates through undamaged, so I'll be extra careful with the packing etc and hope for the best.

You forgot to add "stolen" !
  • Once took a Nintendo GameCube through airport security and it worked fine afterwards.

Just ensure it is correctly and well packed (to prevent damage during baggage handling) and I guess it should be fine.
