Updates from avg , windows,adaware etc working today ?

All websites working fine but today the normal routine i have running updates ... none of the update downloads are working ... inc ... windows...avg...tomtom...adaware...spybot..ccleaner .

Is happening a day after i had to do a system restore due to trying to update to zonealarm8 which made my computer freeze on loading after the "welcome" page ..to just a blue screen .(but no words)
The restore just went to a position a couple of days previous which is the only one there.


Any ideas or recommendations ??

It sounds like you have lost the ZA configuration settings. Check that each of the programs that you are trying to update have the necessary permissions.

plot thickens ! ... went to my computer...all programs...zonealar .. clicked to open ... nothing happens ?

I would download ZA V7 e.g. from here and install.

espresso ... did the doenload but when i ran it it said its' version 7.0.408 was an older version than mine 7.0.483 so i should remove mine ,... tried to uninstall but wouldn't let me until i stopped other "true vector" running ???????

Normally it allows an update option when trying to install a later version but as you already have a later version installed but not working correctly, un-install that before trying to install the downloaded 7.0.408 version. Then switch off the auto update feature so that it does not take you straight up to version 8.

Yes you do have to stop the true vector process.

Do you still have a ZA icon in your system tray? Right click, Shutdown ZA.

Or Ctrl, Alt, Del and shut down vsmon.exe.

no. za icon in tray .. disappearred couple of days ago

ctrl alt del... never had a "vsmon" ... normally just my aol running

in my comp .. all progs ... zonealarm .. clicking on the zonealard icon does nothing .

I'm stuck !!

Ctrl + Alt + Del then click on the Processes Tab.

sorry ... nothing like vsmon in Processes.

This is crazy .. i've gone round in circles with this today !... i've tried uninstalling .. won't let me

Tried reinstalling the version you sugest .. wouldn't let me

Found the exact version i have via google ... wouldn't let me download it .. need to look at service manager for true vector etc

Tried installing the latest version 8 ... won't let me !! .. telling me i need an "msi package or patch "

Just don't know what else to do .

What is ridiculous is how complex it is ... and how is joe public suppoesed to understand misa packages .. true vectors etc !!! ... why doesn't it explain what it is .. and more importantly what you have to do to solve it.

Meanwhile i'm unable to do any updates on any program in my pc ... not acceptable !! ...

Quite frightening that Zonealarm can have such a hold on my pc ?

HELP ? !!
