Having just bought a Nikon D40, can anyone advise or suggest any decent websites/guides on how to make best use of a DSLR?
I've only used standard compacts till now, so i'm after an easy to understand, straight forward guide/walkthrough

Not much help but I am planning to get a D40 after christmas (hoping the prices will come down a bit more), and have signed up to a course at a local college to help me get started using it - £60 for a ten week course.
Maybe a local college to you runs something similar!0 -
I quite like this site: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech.htm
It advocates more about the 'art' of photography, rather than buying bigger and better cameras. Lots of good guides on it.0 -
I would recommend you get a few camera magazines for help and guidence, one of the most useful websites i use, is called
Photography on the net. if you google for it, it will be top of the page. It is for Canon cameras, but the basic principles are the same.
But be warned, you WILL end up buying more camera gear. Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0 -
A complete, easy to understand user's guide:

I would recommend finding settings you like rather than just copying his, but it's a lot easier to do that when you know what they're all for.0
