Family railcard code from MSE

Options
I've been trying to use the discount code from http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-coach-train-ticket-deals which states its valid until 7th December, but when I enter it in the railcard website I get a message saying "
The following errors have been detected:
  • The requested promotion is not valid on this day. Please refer to the promotion's Terms & Conditions for the period of validity."

I am in the same boat, tried the code EXPERT18, but saying not valid.

I have personal messaged (PM'd) Martin, I think he is user MSE Martin

    I have also e-mailed him at Martin@moneysavingexpert.com

He will have a contact at Family Railcard who set up the EXPERT18 code for him, so I have asked him to see whether the validity date can be extended, as we are unable to use it through no fault of our own.

I suggest others on this forum thread do the same, so that Martin can see that a number of us have hit the issue, then hopefully something will happen as it did last weekend.

  • Same problem here!

Tried to buy a Family Railcard for £18 using the code EXPERT18, but a message popped up informing me that the code was not valid.

    Any help gratefully received:)
  • Update on previous post...
I've just phoned National Rail Enquiries, after ten minutes of having to spell out nearly every word to each other (he didn't understand my "Welsh" accent and I could not understand his strong Indian accent!) I was informed that there was no record of any discounts being offered with the code EXPERT18 and they had never heard of MoneySavingExpert.com.

I bought mine using that code but i am sure it finished 30th November.Cracking deal it included a years free membership to the Youth Hostel Association worth £23ish
  • I've been trying on and off all day to buy one of these tickets too, but it was not accepting the EXPERT18 code. I've emailed Martin and also advised the website of the broken link - it might help if more people do the same! No use extending the offer if it still can't be used!!
If anyone has any luck, please let us know! Thanks!
  • I've tried too with exactly the same problem. After last weekend's website problems I emailed the Family Railcards Helpdesk and received this reply:

    Thank you for your email.
I can confirm that the 25% discount offer has been extended for 7 working days. You will need to input 'FAMILY18' in order to claim the discount. This is currently being processed and we advise that you try again this evening.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
If you require any further assistance please contact us.
    Thank you
    Kind regards

However, today neither FAMILY18 nor EXPERT18 work despite being within the extended deadline period. Frustrating or what!!

Nah - same as last time no response yet. Not had much luck with rail websites recently. I tried the recent £5 off next ticket deal - the link took you to a website that had a completely screwed format - tried Firefox and IE - I persevered to no avail, rang an 0845 number and got fobbed off to another number...after 20mins and 3 numbers I realised I had come full circle and suddenly thought.....hold on is this worth £5 off the next ticket ah ah
