Hi,
I am about to install a cd that is part of my OU course, on it is the option to install Kaspersky Antivirus 5.0 and kaspersky anti-hacker firewall software 1.7.
My antivirus stuff has just gone out of date and can't find the pack to re-register it. Does anyone know if this one is any good, it would save me having to download AGV ect. I have looked up consumer reports for it and it seems good but thought i'd get your advise on it.
Thanks

i had it... was prety good... only problem was that it was a bit of a resource-hog... got NOD32 now... great! good as kaspersky (in my opinion) & low on resources.0

I had Kaspersky free with when I purchased my PC and it was !!!!!! (cannot remember what version it was) and it meant once the anti virus scanner it brought the PC to a halt and could not do anything on my PC. The best use for my disk is a drinks coaster0

Security experts regularly debate whether Kaspersky (formerly AVP) or NOD32 is better.
Clear top two Antivirus packages
Kaspersky :
More user friendly than NOD32
The best antivirus signatures in the business
NOD32
Class leading heuristics (i.e. detecting viruses without signatures)
Lower resources
Both offer hourly updates.
I would happily recommend either but personally I use NOD32. I am so happy with NOD32 when renewed my subscription I did it for 2 years instead of 1.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I suppose it is each to their own but I would never go back to Kaspersky, my current antivirus protection is
Norton antivirus with Zone alarm and perfect process shield and have not had anything come onto my PC yet but while using Kaspersky I got loads of !!!!!! on my PC and it could not get rid of them0 -
Just shows what a funny world we live in I recommend Kaspersky so does techsupport guy and I just removed Norton although it had 6 months subscription left it just slowed everything up. I find that Kaspersky can remove stuff that other AV could not delete or quarantine, but each to his own, alot of AV come with free trials, try before buying or installing.

Kaspersky is very good. I don't use it though as I found it a little more resources hungry and the scan takes a while (guess that's why it's so good). Very good trojan detection.
Anyway I use Nod32, another great av. Much lighter and a lightning fast scan.
Give Kaspersky a go, see what you think. It's certainly worth trying before going to AVG or Avast."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
