What are Premier Travel Inns like?

We have a wedding to go to over the summer and were looking at cheap rooms at a Premier Travel Inn. We have booked a family room in Margate Travel Inn and I was wondering if anyone knew what the standard is like at these places, they seem so much cheaper than everywhere else! Is this something to be worried about?!

Cheers

They are fine(ish). They are clean comfortable and have all the the things you need. The only issue is that they are 'soulless'

    They do represent good value.
  • Id recommend them. We use them quite a lot. If its just for something like a wedding then theyre perfect. The rooms are usually a good size, double bed, coffee table, chairs, desk/dressing table unit, with TV & loads of storage space. Cant go far wrong with them really :)

I too have found them good. Rooms are comfortable, the ones I've stayed in were fairly new and spotless. They are usually paired with a pub so if you want Breakfast you have to pay in advance and go across to the pub to dine, seems strange being in a bar at 08:00!! Good value midweek when the other hotels charge top rates.
  • Like the others have said they are mostly OK. Just don't expect any kind of luxury. The bathrooms are often quite small. If you only want somewhere to get changed and sleep, it will be fine.

Minimal clothes storage space, terrible biscuits, no sound proofing so you'll be woken by noisy neighbours but looking at the bright side............a decent powerful shower and very comfortable beds.;)

I must say that we prefer them to Travelodge as the beds are SO comfortable and that is the main thing for an overnighter or two.

We have stayed in half a dozen or so with no problems. As stated in other replies, they are generally characterless, modern purpose built places, but clean. In general, they usually are a good safe bets for one or two nights.

They have telly, with a few basic satellite channels (BBC news, a kids channel, nothing special).

Breakfast is usually extra, and can be around £7-£8 for a cooked breakfast, served in the adjoining pub. These adjoining pubs often hold wedding receptions at weekends, so can be noisy up until midnight or later with guests staggering back to their rooms, so recommend take earplugs just in case, especially if you end up getting the room everyone has to walk past, with a fire door they can leave to bang shut.
  • All the above but ask for a top floor room at far end of the corridors. This is to minimise the noise of room and corridor doors and kids running up and down the corridors. If it is the summer you may have a problem with the room being too hot as none have any kind of airconditioning other than electric fans. This group was formed from the Travel Inn group and Premier Inns merger/takeover, essentially the same format although Premier Inns generally had a bar and eating area a bit like Holiday Inn Express and are a bit more contemporary in decor style.
If you can get a cheap late deal in any of the better hotel chains I would take it and cancel the Travel Inn.
