Is unlocking SE W200i myself easy?

I have a new Sony Ericsson W200i and want to know if it is easy unlocking it myself?

I just have no experience of the 'how to' as previously I've just gone to markets for £5-10.

If I can, where would you recommend for codes and what should I expect to pay? Is it difficult?

(did a search and all were q old or very not about SE fones)

There is no free way to unlock any sony errikson so i'm afraid you will have to pay for it, but I don't think it should cost more than £10 - £15 depending on where you go.

But that thread gives you a way to unlock other phones for free , so if you got any other phones lying around or any friends or family , it would be a great idea to share that link with them and save them some money aswell lol

Yes, you can do it by yourself and it's completely free, but it's a bit complicated.
You need:
simox SIM-Lock remover patch generator can be downloaded for free
DCU-60 cable - supplied with your phone
firmware(MAIN ,FS and finalization files) for W200i
Setool lite 1.11(recommended) can be downloaded for free
1. use patch generator to make a simlock remove patch for the target main firmware
2. use setool lite 1.11 and DCU-60 cable to flash ,apply patch for W200i and finalize your phone.
then you can get a sim free handset
necessary information can be found in SE-NSE forum

wont work on the w200 as it doesnt use the db2020 platform.

so CLLC is right, no free unlock for this phone

db2012 is also supported by patch method as well
the only thing need to be care is finding correct firmware CID version

i thought it was only the paid for box version of setool (& other paid for tools) that could patch them at the moment

The most reliable way to unlock is via servers. I can recommend ultimate unlocker it works fine and uses the original cable. Its costs £8.80 per phone or cheaper for bulk.

http://www.mobile-unlock-codes.co.uk...FQ4i3godvRMKkA all they do is give you a tutorial and instructions on how to use a software hack for the SE W200i NOT any unlock code. Its a scam as you can get this elsewhere on the internet for free anyway. Good luck getting the phone unlocked.

Sorry to hear that. I bit the bullet and went to our local unlocking shop. Decided that for £10 I would have a functioning phone and much less hassle. Thanks to all for their comments.
