Can i connect a pvr with freeview to a tv that also has freeview?

I apolgogise if this is a very silly question but technology nowadays defeats me. I have a sony tv which has built in freeview and I am looking to buy a Humax 9150 PVR which also has a built in freeview tuner. Will I get a conflict/problem if I connect the Humax to my TV?

Thanks for your help.

  • It should be no problem as long as you have a spare scart socket on your TV to connect it to.
I have been running a Humax 9200T for about 3 years and it makes for an extremely flexible way to watch TV.

Thank you for the quick replies. I will go out and buy the humax 9150 tomorrow, £118 from Argos seems like a good price, especially as I have £15 in gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, which would make the price nearly a £100.

    Thanks

given some regions don't switch until 2012 it's not exactly soon that HD will be available to all(and even then it's a limited selection of channels)

No conflict I have a Samsung tv with Humax freeview 9200 and also have the Humax freesat pvr just come out

I do find though picture is better on the inbuilt freeview than the Humax due to it using scart so where possible always use hdmi
  • don't forget you might want to switch to watching one of the tuners of the PVR as a matter of course than the rather than the in-built tuner to get the other benefits of a PVR i.e. the ability to pause live tv and instant record

that also means using the Humax remote rather than the TV one for normal channel changing - you may be able to set the TV to switch on and auto switch to either the HDMI or AV1

You can always revert to the inbuilt tuner when you are simultaneously 2 recording channels and you want to watch a 3rd ( which isn't on same mux)

I have inverto rather than Humax but pretty sure the above applies to all pvrs

it's gonna be slightly out of date soon, with hd on it's way, will still work though for loads of sd channels
