Small Change = Big Improvement

Hi All!
I'm interested in what small changes you have all made that have made a big improvement within your home!
We gave the whole house a re-paint (over a couple of weeks) and only recently finished. Also replaced the toilet seat with a soft close one!
Next aim is to wash and treat / paint our decking - however I have a feel this may have to wait until the spring!

De-clutter de-clutter de-clutter....be brutal
re organise your rooms
Move pictures etc around to give a feeling of a new spaceIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Changing door handles esp for modern chrome ones can have an impact. Particularly if yopu have brass or aluminium ones. They are quite inexpensive and can be fitted easily. The alternative is to focus all your money / efforts into one room / project and do it properly and effectively and then move on to the next room when money / time allows. This then gives you a sense of significant achievement and often adds the wow factor.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

can we change the titel of this thread to:
"i love my soft close loo seat"
although i am now intrigued by all these recommendations... :-)I am a building surveyor and will provide advice based upon what you tell me. It is just that, advice and not instructions. Based on the fact you're getting it for free expect it to be vague!0 -
I painted my nasty orange wood (oak?) effect melamine kitchen doors cream a couple of weeks ago...looks like a new kitchen now! I also retiled over the dark tiles with travertine stone tiles (free!!) and put down a cream rug.0
