ripping to WAV then burning - long delay between tracks

I thought I'd start ripping a few albums in WAV format for exact-cd quality .. but after burning one back to cd and playing in the car, i notice there are long gaps 5/6 seconds between tracks. does anyone know why? is this a problem with WAV format? should I just rip in 320 mp3 or something else?

What software are you using to to the burning? Some have a default number of seconds between tracks - maybe that setting needs changing to something smaller?

hi i was using windows media player the latest version i think.. cant find an option relating to gaps.. anyone have a clue?

The default gap when WMP 11 burns is 2 seconds. It's not something you can change.

Not sure why you're getting bigger gaps.

its only with wav files that must be the problem

You could rip to FLAC, APE or WMA lossless, all of which will have no loss in quality, and a hell of a lot smaller files than WAV. I don't know what WMP supports because I never use it, but I assume it would support WMA lossless.

CdburnerXP. Freeware and you can select to have a gap or not.
