Hoping someone here knows what I'm talking about...
I have patio doors and the lock is faulty. I'm getting new doors in the New Year but looking for something to secure the door before then. I was in a house in Canada and they had a bar which fitted from the door lintel to the door - thus preventing the door being opened.
I've looked in B&Q and Homebase, but not seen anything like it. Anyone got any ideas?

why not just cut a broom handle to length and lay it in the rail so the door can't be opened....and probably hard to spotIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
if the door slides on the inside of the frame just wedge a piece of timber from frame to door to jam it shut you could do this top and bottomif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

A simple safety bar can be made by cutting a length of wood (an old hockey stick or broom handle is ideal) to fit snugly into the bottom channel of the sliding panel. If possible, choose a bar of solid metal or heavy metal tubing. but i think you should avoid bars made of thin aluminum and those that use a friction device to secure the telescoping sections.0
