Switching from Staywarm

Options
After one year the proce has just increased from £55 to £70 per month.

Have tried some of the switching sites and none of them give Powergen Staywarm as a "plan" In addition because of the nature of Staywarm I don't have useage figures for electricity (the gas figure is given in the renewal letter).

Finally when entering current costs on the comparison sites why do they ask for both gas and electricty but don't provide a dual fule option?

Have any forum memebers recently switched from Staywarm and which switching service did they use

    Hi

You are likely to be quids in if you leave Staywarm. I've been told we should be with them because of our age, but every time I did the sums I came to the same conclusion - that we wouldn't be at all better off, quite the reverse, if we went to them.

We're now with NPower and are paying £28 a month for gas (gas-fired central heating) and £20 a month for electricity (we cook by electric). There are 2 of us in this 2-bedroomed bungalow. No way would Staywarm's charges be £48 a month, if we'd gone to them.

So far they seem to be. We'll switch again if they're not!!!

One important factor to bear in mind is that it's inevitable that ALL power charges will be going up over the next few years, it doesn't matter which provider you're with. This is because the UK is now a net importer of gas - only days ago there was a big row between Russia and Ukraine, and things like this will affect us. A lot of people don't seem to have realised yet - our North Sea gas is largely GONE, we have no coal industry any more, and where is it all to come from. No good the oldies sitting around saying they can't afford to switch the two-bar electric fire on and they need more money - it's a bigger picture out there. Insulate, insulate, insulate!

We switched from Staywarm 2 years ago we were paying £46 a month for gas and electric, we are now with Atlantic and pay £30 for the same service.

  • I have contacted some of the "switching" sites and have just received this reply from uSwitch

"Unfortunately we cannot give you a price comparison if you are on a Staywarm plan. This is because Powergen have refused to give us updated rates for Staywarm. Until they do we have removed the Staywarm tariff from our website. We apologise for any inconvenienced caused"
