I really wouldn't advise anyone to fit their own freeview/digital aerial to a house chimney unless they have a death wish. I recently fitted my own and it nearly killed me - unfortunately the neighbours were watching and in order to save face I was forced to persevere with the task until it was complete. These new aerials are like kites in the wind and as luck would have it the wind got up and it started raining when I was trying to lash the aerial to my chimney. Having fitted it successfully I heaved a sigh of relief........but never again !!
The good news is everything works OK - bought a Televes 43 aerial + coax + lashing kit for around £30 delivered off ebay.PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

so unfortunately i cant receive the signal (cos the signal dont bend like the old analogue signals), so i will have to wait until they improve the signal strength..... boo hoo .... i wanted to save money on NTL......:(
Put the aerial up the tree then! Sorry couldn't resist.
Having an aerial fitted to the chimney stack on costs me about 25 quid. Mind you my cousin does it and he owns his own company. I don't actually think analogue signals ever bent. UHF and VHF are all line of sight, i.e. straight.
A word of warning about amplifiers. You can drag in signals you might not want such as CB and amateur radio if one is close by. You can also get cross channel interference, i.e two channels on the same frequency in certain circumstances.Don't buy the Sun.0 -
I'd get some more quotes. Here's a good place to find local installers:
