New Acer Aspire One A110AB - Tech Problem

Need some verification that i'm not missing anything here.

This afternoon purchased the above model from Currys after haggling a tenner off.
Opened it up - inserted battery - correctly and checked.

but this is the problem -

I go to switch it on, it boots up but 5 seconds later just switches off.

I try pressing a key, but nothing.

Switch it on again and it lingers in boot and switches off again.

This cycle then repeats itself.

In the 5 seconds i noted the battery showing 70% power.
So tried it connected through the main, but same problem.

So left it to charge to 100% and still the problem exists.

I have checked the battery is locked in ok.

I'm under the assumption that i will have to return it for a replacement, but just wanted to check with you guys that i've not missed anything, with this being my first netbook experience.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like some sort of hardware fault. As it straight out of the box, I would take it back to Curry's. I would ask for your money back and buy a better make of laptop.

Not really a fan of Acer laptops anyway - Too unreliable and cheap!

It's one of their netbooks, which are pretty good. Not a normal cheap laptop.

We've got one, it's fine. Sounds like you've just got a dodgy one. Take it back and swap it.

I just bought a Acer a few days again and it did state that you should leave it charging for the first half hr without using it, maybe this is the problem? I never read it till a day later and turned mine on and it was good to go straight away...maybe u got a dodgy one - take it back and swap it!
