transferring big files wirelessly, problem

Hi I have just bought a new PC which has wireless and I have a wireless router which my old PC is plugged into. They are all adjacent to each other and I will connect the new PC to the router with a lead in the end once all is sorted out.

So for now I selected to copy all of My Documents over from my old PC to my new PC as that is where I keep everything and it worked great except for the odd file.

The old PC has XP on it and the new one has Vista.

One of the files refused to copy over when done collectively and and even individually, it is about 10Gb and a dvi video file I made. I do not want to alter it at this stage but just copy it over.

I presume the size is the problem so how can I do it?

Also which bit is stopping it, is it XP, Vista or the network?

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried plugging it in with an ethernet cable and copying it?

Cut wireless out of the question if you can using a CAT 5 cable.

10GB for one file? If so max file size for FAT32 is 4GB, NTFS is 16GB...

For this amount of data you really want to be using something like robocopy...(guide here: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/wi...windows/?p=777) .
