I've tried D-Link, Linksys & Netgear routers with my Virgin broadband in the past & I've found Netgear to be the best as far as range is concerned, & it's very easy to set up with cable - just plug it in, run the wizard disk to set the security & away you go. If you don't want to use the disk then setting it up manually is also just as easy. The model I'm using at the moment is the WGT624.
  • Hi there
Can I hijack this thread pls. I've been given 3 wireless routers off Freecycle (lucky me). However my son is unable to set up wireless using Virgin Media cable box. One of the routers (Phillips CGA5722 with CD disk) is brand new and this is the router he's trying to use. Anyone tell me how to wire them together please - complete novice unfortunately. Cheers in advance.

I guess that's why it doesn't work then! The others mention ADSL as well D-Link (DSL-2640R), although the Belkin says ADSL2 (modem with High-Speed Mode Wireless G Router?) Won't either of those work?

for them to work with virgin they need to say they work with cable which going by what you've told me they wont work, they would only work on a bt internet connection
  • Is the Netgear the best recommendation if I want to run a laptop, PS3 and desktop off the router?

By the way thanks for your help DCFC79.
