  • I tried Kaspersky/ Bit Defender/ F-Secure for a few weeks.

    I ended up buying F-Secure. Security 2009.

Got a corking deal for this via Amazon UK.

I tried it on the free trial for a month. It did what it was supposed to do.

    Easy to use.

Low system requirements. Computer seems to be running better.

Thanks for everyone's help and tips on this complicated
    but essential Computer Software.

Hi. I've just realised I'm able to download either Barclay's free Kaspersky or HSBC's free McAfee - and I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on which was the was better one to go for? Looking at posts here, it seems that Kaspersky is less resource-hungry than McAfee?

    TIA,
    Saz

Kaspersky is to my mind, the best all in one product you can buy

    - ok thanks, that's good to know. Thing is, normally I probably wouldn't fork out on a full security suite - would usually try to assemble a reasonable patchwork of protection from the available freeware out there. But I'm finding this increasingly labour intensive - as each one gets bought-out by another - trying to keep up with which are the least resource hogging/best detection rate/least intrusive, etc etc. But if the full Kaspersky is free for 12 months, and it seems to be a good product - then must be worth a try.

Can go free if you like Sazbo

Personally I use Aviras free one. And scan with malwarebytes, Superantispyware and Spybot alternating weekly (Only Avira runs 'on the fly')
I also use PCTOOLS firewall (all free)

Heard good things about avira and S-antispy. I used to have free AVG, spybot and an older incarnation of the Sygate firewall on my laptop (which has now died) - but maybe'll just give the free Kaspersky a whirl. Cheers rik.
